Special Recreation Services, Inc. is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to enhancing the everyday lives of differently-abled individuals by providing health, wellness, habilitation, recreational, social and volunteer opportunities and activities for adults (18+) who are intellectually disabled, autistic and/or mentally ill in Northeastern PA. Our group activity program mainly takes place in Monroe & Northampton Counties. We have also recently expanded to providing waiver funded services to include Community Participation Supports (CPS), In Home and Community Supports (IHCS) and Companion services.
Who can Attend?
Our Group activity program is for Adults (18+) with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and/or Mental Illness.
Participants should be mostly independent, able to ambulate and use the bathroom without assistance and administer their own medications. If they need assistance with any of those, they will have to attend with a family member or their own staff.
A portion of our waiver funded programs take individuals into the community so they can work on their ISP goals. All of our individuals receive their own staff so their experience is person centered.
